Hi, I just trace my GARDNER family back to Sandusky Co., Scott twp., I just thought that I would drop a line and let everyone know who I am researching there. Horace Gardner b. abt 1800 Ct. was linving to Tolland Co., CT before purchaing land in Scott twp in 1834. Thru the census records I have tracked in thru 1860 as still living in Scott twp., and he did die there as the Hays library has his Estate papers (which I am eagerly awaiting:-0) If anyone can connect to Horace's family, I would love to corresponde and share information with you.

Happy Hunting All,
Anita

Surnames: DONOVAN, HAYES
Researcher: Rachel Penne
Email: [email protected]
Date posted: Saturday, September 5, 1998

I am looking for any information about a family named Donovan from County Cork, Ireland, who lived somewhere in the Sandusky County area approximately 1868 through 1875. The men in the family worked for the railroad and followed the railroad out of OH in the 1870's.

One Donovan couple was John and Catherine (Hayes) Donovan. Common family names are Florence (a man), Ellen or Nell, Catherine, John Donovan and Dennis, Catherine, Michael Hayes. Until I learn where they lived in Sandusky (they are not in the 1870 census index), it is difficult for me to learn more about the family.

Thank you, Rachel Penne at [email protected]

Dear Tricia and all,

When I first began my research,I received the following from William Allen May,descendant of Isaac May,regarding the McMillen family:

RACHEL S. MCMILLEN b.1/5/1797,Grafton Co NH-d.11/13/1829SanduskyCo,OH
NANCY MCMILLEN b.9/11/1810,Grafton Co NH-d.3/12/1884 Pleasant Grove,KS

" Isaac May married Rachel S. McMillen,a daughter of Samuel McMillen who had brought his family to Livingston Co NY from NH. Following his father-in-law, Isaac moved his family in 1822 to Seneca Co,OH, then to York tp,Sandusky Co OH. Rachel died there on 11/13/1829. Isaac married her sister Nancy McMillen 1/13/1830."

I visited Sandusky Co OH in 1982 and found Samuel McMillen's gravestone, and that of his daughter Rachel at the McPherson Cemetery at Clyde,Sandusky Co OH. And I obtained a copy of his will.

I do not have proof, but believe that the most likely candidates for the father of Samuel McMillen are one of the sons of Archibald, namely Daniel, Andrew or William.

Tricia, I would very much like to have the copies of pages from Littleton,NH records that you mentioned.

I too have spent much time in Clyde, OH and am researching the BROWN/REED names - any chance you might have info on my relatives?

My aunt Bernice Dalton (Brown) REED was a long time school teacher in Clyde, OH and I would very much appreciate any articles on her. My father Charles M. BROWN lived with her family at 228 W. Buckeye while growing up and picked cherries in the nearby orchards. Her home still stands next to the library and the nursing home. The drug store was family owned and Maynard Dalton BROWN (1872-1936) was the druggist early on in the 1900's and he was married to Hattie Elizabeth Kline. They had two girls - Bernice and Kathryn Lucille (Brown) BRADFORD. If you should have anything on Kathryn and her husband Homer BRADFORD, I would be very much interested. They both died in a car accident and I do not have death dates, where buried, etc. on them.

Always willing to share everything I have - many photo's and articles on Clyde as well - take care!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Maggie Brown Moerdyke

My distant cousin Clara Ann Clapp lived on West Maple St in Clyde, and died there in 1924, aged 72. She is buried in McPherson Cemetery along with her parents Edmund and Charlotte (Foote) Clapp. I found those graves on a trip there six years ago ( I live in Calif.), but didn't find her grandmother who is supposed to be buried there. That was Phebe (Young)(Foote) Barrett. who died around 1865-1875.

I'd appreciate it if someone would check the new McPherson cemetery book for Phebe, my 4th ggma.

I am searching for information on my gr.gr.grandparents. Grandfather Anton TRAUT arrived in America 1848. He married Natalia (unknown) in Ohio. Their five children were born in Carey, OH. Grandmother Natalia died 12 Oct 1867, at the age of 27. Anton farmed out the four older children and the baby girl (Natalia) was adopted. Can anyone help me find the maiden name of Natalia. Census record indicated she came from Baden (as did Anton). They have lived around Findlay, OH. Natalia is buried in Frenchtown, OH. Relatives by the name of Moos may have raised the two boys, Anthony and Henry. It is unknown who raised the two daughters Anna and Mildred. Mildred ended up in Port Clinton as a teenager. Any information would be welcome. I'm definitely stuck on the maiden name.

I am looking for my G-G-Grandfathers father. My G-G-Grandfathers name was John Mowry. He came to America with his parents from Adelwil, Switzerland. John was nine years old. His father was a farmer in Seneca County. I have found articles telling about his father but they only refer to him as being "John's father who lives in Seneca County". I also know that his mother lived to be 70 or more years old. My cousin and I have been looking for months and we are at a dead end. Any suggestions? We were also told by a second cousin that the name Mowry was changed from Maurer when John went into the Civil War.John was born in 6-28-1844. That means his familly came to America in 1853.
