Lewis Lake

LOCATION:

Just nineteen kilometers west of Halifax on Route #3.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

It is speculated that Lewis Lake was probably named for an early settler.

GENEALOGY:

There are several families living here whose ancestors were among the early pioneers, including the Doreys, Smiths and Dauphinees.

LEWIS LAKE NOW:

This is largely a rural area though a new subdivision is being developed. Not far away is Lewis Lake Provincial Park, which offers recreational facilities in an outdoor setting for those who are physically disabled, including a wheelchair look-off, walk-ways, picnic sites and nature trails.
