Nov. 20, 1970 - Nov. 3, 2013 Kurt Richard MacFarlane , 42, of Prescott, AZ, formerly of Osprey, FL, passed away on 11/3/13. He was the beloved husband of Cindy Burton-MacFarlane for 17 years. Born in Westerly, RI, he was the son of John Richard MacFarlane and the late Dorothy Alyce MacFarlane . Kurt grew up in Osprey, FL and was the youngest of three children. Kurt joined the Coast Guard in 1989 and was honorably discharged in 1993. He loved surfing and fishing and being outdoors. He had a passion for horticulture and was pursuing his education in that field in AZ. Kurt was a loving person with a huge heart. He would help anyone in need without a second thought. He found humor in most things, and loved to share a joke and a laugh with friends and family. He loved his family deeply, and his son Jake was his greatest source of pride and joy. Kurt is also survived by his son, Noah Jacob "Jake" MacFarlane of Nokomis, FL and Trey and Clay Burton of Gainesville, FL, sister, Erica MacFarlane Davis of Nokomis, FL, brother, Keith Andrew MacFarlane of Sarasota, FL, nephews, Trevor Davis, Kevin MacFarlane , Sean MacFarlane , John Thomas MacFarlane and nieces, Kendall Davis, Lauren Horvath and Allison MacFarlane . A memorial service will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements made by Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home.
