Welcome to the Prentiss County Genealogical and Historical Society website.  We are a non-profit organization devoted to preserving the history of Booneville and Prentiss County, Mississippi.  Prentiss County was formed in 1870 when old Tishomingo County was split in to the present day counties of Tishomingo, Alcorn, and Prentiss.  Our new county seat was Booneville which had only been organized in 1861 itself, about the time the railroad came through our area.  Please take a look around the website and don't hesitate to contact us if we can help.
