Dr. Mary Sumner was a professor at Northeast Community College in Booneville in the History Department. She worked very hard to help the future generations know the history of Prentiss County, and the surrounding counties of Alcorn, Itawamba, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Lee, and Tishomingo.
After her death Dr. Sumner's collection of history material was donated to the Society. Brenda Scotty was a great assistance in retrieving this material.
We would like to express our gratitude to the family of Dr. Mary Sumner and Brenda Scotty for their help in making sure this information was not lost to the future researchers.
