Fort Kennedy was on the property of Thomas Kennedy, an American Revolutionary War veteran, a Colonel. The Kennedy property was located about 1 mile east of the current Wright City, and about a ¼ mile south of I-70 (which is also the track for Hwy 40).  The cemetery is on the west side of the Troy-Dutzow Road.  The fort was on the east side and further south, less than a ¼ mile.

Thomas Kennedy lived in Upper Cuivre Township, Territorial County of St. Charles,1817..
