The court house removal question has caught on in earnest and plans are now under way to form an organization to look after the details of bringing the issue to a vote at the next general election. It will require a petition of one-fourth the qualified voters of the county to bring the question to a vote and a two-thirds majority to bring about the removal. Judging from the favorable sentiment which is being freely expressed it will be quite easy to secure the necessary majority.
The removal is being most favorably considered by the farmers. In conversation with a representative of the Lead Belt News this week one of the most prominent farmers in this county expressed himself as heartily in favor of the removal. He named a substantial sum of money which he said he would be willing to donate to a removal campaign. The fact that Flat River and its neighbors, Elvins and Desloge, affords a much better market than Farmington, appeals strongly to the farmers. If the county seat were located here they could do their marketing and transact whatever business they might have at the court house without losing any time.
The removal question is being favored in some quarters which practically guarantees its success. In this connection we expect to have an important announcement to make in the near future.
