James A. Lunsford died of wounds he suffered on Mindanao in late November of 1944.   He died on a hospital ship headed back to the states. 

He was a member of Company L of the 21st Infantry.  He had served in Hawaii, Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. 

He had been wounded on Leyte on November  9 and went back into combat.  He was 26 years old at his death. 

Before entering the service he had lived in Farmington.
