(Farmington Times, Jan. 20, 1905) Last Wednesday afternoon, Jim Harris, Hasting Parks and Dan
Sparks were drinking together in a saloon at Elvins. Harris and Sparks have never
been the best of friends, and the three got into a scuffle over a revolver. Later,
after they had left the saloon, Sparks shot Harris in the left side near the heart,
inflicting a wound that will likely prove fatal. Harris then fired at Sparks
striking him in the back of the neck, killing him instantly. Harris is under arrest
but the chances of his recovery are very slim. He was very severely wounded in 1900
in one of the former Harris - Dooley fights near Doe Run. |
