SERIOUS FIGHT

An unfortunate affray took place Wednesday night about 10 o'clock at the masquerade ball at Union hall, when Zeno Cole, aged about 23, was struck in the head by a soda bottle thrown at him by Charles Motsch, aged about 21. Cole was struck in the left temple, the bone being crushed and his injuries are very serious.

Persons who witnessed the affair say that Cole, who was drinking, created a disturbance, and was accosted by Motsch, who was on the ball committee. It is said that Cole made a gun play, whereupon Motsch struck him with the result stated.

A warrant was sworn out in Justice of the Peace Adam's court for Motsch's arrest.

Dr. Appleberry treated Cole's injuries and took out two slivers of bone. Cole was taken Thursday to the home of his father, William Cole, at Desloge. His condition is reported slightly improved.

Cole had been employed for the past few weeks in the saloon of Herb Rongey at Clay Place. Chas. Motsch is a well known young man who works for the company at this place. ---Leadwood Banner.
