1.  Your kit number ___kit 32934 ______

2.  Your name_____ Living________

3.  Why did you join the Lost Colony project?

The Payne line is linked to the Payne’s that came across and was loss. The surname group administrator, Patrick Payne stated that our group was being used in the documentary “The Lost Colony” and that a Payne from England believed to relate to one of our US Lineages so I joined to see if anything would later be found.  You should contact Patrick as he has most of the lineages work from our group, Patrick Payne, [email protected]

4.  How is your Y-line DNA line connected to the colonists, the surnames, Native people or the location?

William J. Payne married Elizabeth Ann McWhorter also descendant of colonists.

The 3 sections of the website are divided into genealogy, research and history.

Genealogy – typically this would be the specific genealogy of the line listed here on the site….so the mtdna for you.  I think I have uploaded a previous copy to both but I am attaching a more complete file of all my lines both maternal and paternal.

I am including a mini-genealogy form below for you to complete which should help you to document your maternal ancestry.  Alternatively, you can upload a gedcom to either your personal results page at Family Tree DNA or mitosearch and let us know that you have done so.

5.  Please provide a brief writeup (2 paragraphs to one page in length) on your line!

If you are just looking at the one male line that carries the y then I believe you are looking through a straw.  The fact is we are made up of many generations and combinations of all the lines that merge to form an individual.  I try to research the eight lines as much as possible, 4 from each of my parents.  Of these several go back well over a thousand years to Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, and mostly to the lands rules by the Franks. Alexander McWhorter gave the prayer prior to Washington crossing the Delaware the event that set this country well onto the path of freedom from Europe. Many others in my various lines have played important roles in whatever land they happened to be in at the time…from Frankish Kings of the middle ages, to leading a prayer at one of this country’s major events to being a private on the battlefield of this country’s worst event, the American Civil War.  I like to think the DNA strands from the eight lines that I descend are interwoven tightly though-out all the events of the modern world.

6.  Mini-Genealogy From Participant to Oldest Ancestor (complete form below)

Completing the form below, enter the current generation’s name in line 1 and add each generation on subsequent lines through your oldest ancestor.  You don’t need to provide personal info for living individuals, just a placeholder name.
