Everett Emmet Rouse son of Michael W.
Rouse and Sarah Griever was born 31 Jul 1877 in Rose Hill, Lee County,
Virginia and died 29 Oct 1956 in Soldier, Jackson County, Kansas. He
married
Rebecca "Beck" Caroline DeBusk
daughter of
John Wesley DeBusk and
Eunice Rouse 24 Feb 1898 in Rose Hill, Lee County,
Virginia. They are both buried at Holton, Jackson County, Kansas.

OBITUARY
He grew to manhood in
Lee County, Virginia where he married his wife Rebecca DeBusk.
They established their home on a farm in Lee County, Virginia and
farmes there until February, 1903, when they moved to Brown County,
Kansas. He farmed in Brown and Jackson County until his health failed.
He passed away at his home in Soldier, 29 October 1956.
He was
a good neighbor and a friend to all who knew him. He was always
happiest in his home with his family near him. He is survived by his
wife, Rebecca, three sons, Hobart and Sam of Circleville, John of El
Dorado Springs, Mo., two daughters, Grace and Hazel of the home. One
daughter, Bonnie, passed away at the age of five months, two
grandchildren, Mrs Dee Olson of Topeka and Henry Rouse of Circleville,
two sisters, Mrs Alice DeBusk of Holton, Mrs Emma Cole of Kansas City,
several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral
services were held 3:00 PM November 1, 1956, at the Mercer Funeral
Home. Rev Archie Ross officiating. Clyde and Claude Reischick Sang,
Mrs Chas Haag was organist. Pall bears were Carl, Gus, Theodore
Zibell, Loren Armstrong, Oscar Shupe, and Keith Reischick. Burial was
in the Holton Cemetery.
According to his daughter Hazel, he and
his brother Henry were put into a foster home after the death of their
mother. The family was mean to them. After he moved to Kansas he found
that he could not stand to have the wind blow like it did in Kansas
and moved back to Virginia. A few years later he returned to Kansas
aboard a train.
