He was intervied by Judge Redmond Cole
the "true story of his fathers orgin.
Judge Redmond Cole
intervied this man in the 1930's. C.K. DeBusk gave him an account of
his ancestors. He stated "that his earliest ancestor was Elisha
DeBusk, who came to the new world from France when he was seven years
old settling with his parents in Washington County, Virgina. He
married Eva Clark, lived for a time in Lee County, Virginia and died
1861 in Morgan County, Kentucky. He claimed that Elisha had as
brothers William, Elihu, and Andrew, as sister Elizabeth Bishop and a
Sister Rachel Elkins (Eakins?). Elisha had fourteen children:
Jonathan, Elias, Frank, Marion, Eliza (Shupe), Mary, Easter, Rachel,
Elizabeth, Ellen, Jayne, Susan and Martha, and Joshua." Cole noted
that "Joshua DeBusk (Elisha) married and had a son J.R. DeBusk, of
Temple, Texas, who was the father of my informant." This was James
Richmond DeBusk. Cole did not believe that this Elisha was the son of
the immigrant.
