From WV Newspapers Obituaries 1884-1894, Vol. 2, pg 30:

The Baptist Banner
Wednesday May 2, 1894

Daniel Javins was born in 1809. After suffering on the bed of affliction for ten long months he quietly passed to rest on the morning of the the 30th at 2 o'clock a. m.
Father Javins was born near Brownstown, Kanawha County, in the year 1809, which would make him nearly eighty five years of age at the time of his death.
Daniel Javins was always a good citizen, loved and respected by all who knew him. He united with the Baptist Church about fifty three years ago, and was in the organization of the Baptist Church at Peytona forty seven years ago. He had always been a liberal man in donating to the ministrations of the gospel. His door was always open to the ministers of the gospel, whom he most willingly kept and cared for, as well as many people attending church from a distance. He was always punctual in attendance upon divine service till extreme old age overtook him and his seat was never vacant except sickness preventing attendance. Rev. C. J. Rippetoe while visiting this church last year, remarked that there was a vacant seat in the congregation which did not seem natural to him, as he had preached for the Peytona Church eight years, and during all that time never, in his recollection, was old Father Javins absent.
