Gaines R. Byram - Madison Parish, Louisiana

 

TALLULAH — Gaines R. Byram died Monday, July 20. 1998, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 77.

 

A lifelong resident of Tallulah, Mr. Byram was a veteran of World War II, serving as lieutenant in the Army. He was a retired hardware store merchant and member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah where he served as deacon. He was a former American Legion member and an avid hunter and fisherman.

 

Survivors include his wife. Billie M. Byram of Tallulah; his son, John R. Byram of Vicksburg; his daughter, Jerry B. Carraway of Jackson; his brother. Dr. George Byram of Haynesville. La.; three sisters. Olga Mae Horn of Tallulah, Betty Lipari of Kalamazoo. Mich., and Marguerite Whitehead of Shreveport; four grandchildren: and two great-grandchildren.

 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Tallulah with the Revs. Greg Allison and Jim Biedenharn officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah in charge.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Pallbearers will be Jay Byram. Bob Lowrey, Jess Newsom, Hal Hutchins. Todd Windham, Bill Windham, Rowdy Nosser, George Byram, David Dawson and Robert Barr Todd.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of Rawhide Hunting Club.

 

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Tallulah or the American Heart Association.
