HAYNESVILLE, LA - A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Haynesville on March 17, 2012 at 11am. George was a family practice doctor in Haynesville from 1960 to 1978. After closing his private practice in Haynesville, he began working as an emergency room physician at several hospitals throughout north Louisiana and south Arkansas. He did this for many years until his eyes began to fail him and forced him into retirement.

George (better known as PawPaw) also served in the military from 1958 - 1960 as a captain in the U.S. Medical Corp stationed in Germany. He was very active in the Haynesville community, serving on the town council and as team doctor for his beloved Golden Tornado. He especially loved spending time with his grandsons, Trey (and wife Jennifer), Matthew, Hunter, Hayden, Bradley and Connor.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy Byram and two sons, George Byram, Jr and wife, Julie; Jeff Byram and wife, Claya; and one daughter, Robin Oliver and husband, "DeWayne", as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

PawPaw's gentle spirit, dry sense of humor and ability to fix "anything" will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the The Golden Tornado Quarterback Club or the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Houston (6977 Main St. Houston, TX 77030; Attn: Becky Williams - Cleft Lip and Palate Team)
