The September 2008 meeting of the Lafayette Genealogical Society was held in the Meeting Room of the Main Branch of the Lafayette Public Library on September 18, 2008 at 6:30 P.M. President Earl Gates called the meeting to order. There was a moment of silence for our military and the Pledge of Allegiance was given.

President Earl Gates recognized a visitor, Nancy Colby, a life �writing instructor who states that she will be joining the Lafayette Genealogical Society tonight. Also introduced was Nettie Domingue Trahan who has collected family pictures and stories all her life.

The guest speaker for evening was Larry Russell of Foto Fix who spoke on restoring old photographs. He undertakes photo editing of old pictures, such as correcting exposures, removing individuals or adding them, enhancing yellowing of old pictures. He can create greeting and Christmas cards. He will scan a photograph and give an estimate, and a file will be furnished for every order. Satisfaction is guaranteed. A display album of his work on photographs and a calling card was circulated to members.

One of our guests, Nettie Trahan spoke of her family history and read a life story about her husband�s great-grandmother who was a traiteur.

President Gates presented the slate of officers for the 2009 year. They were President, Rogers Romero; Vice-President, William Thibodeaux; President-Elect, Brenda Fuselier; Secretary, Dottie Burleigh; and Treasurer, Warren LeBlanc. Charles Patterson made a motion to accept those nominated for 2009. The motion was seconded and approved.

Charles Patterson then gave a power point presentation on using Family Tree Maker.
