by the Pledge of Allegiance.
A member has requested if handouts are available
of the power point presentations that

that the Lafayette Genealogical Society
will
have its Christmas Banquet on Thursday,

is
open for suggestions for speakers at
the
banquet. She is presently contacting Paul Prudhomme
who has done much to publicize Cajun
food,
culture, and historical preservation,
besides
being an entertaining speaker. The menu will remain basically the same as
previous years, with suggestions accepted. The minister of Grace Presbyterian Church
and his wife will be invited as guests
of
the society.
President Patterson reported that Dottie
Burleigh and Glenda Shaw are continuing
to
take pictures of grave sites at Fountain

that was held at the Chamber of Commerce
in Opelousas. The general purpose of that meeting was to
view, categorize, and index some original
documents and papers held by the Opelousas
Chamber of Commerce to make them more available to the
public. There were some city directories there, some
as early as 1911, and the Opelousas
society
hopes to digitalize them and place
them on
their website, www.imperialstlandry.org. This website also has a link that can be
accessed to print out a family medical
history
form.
