A John Shelay appears in 1810 census for Scott County. The 1820 Scott County census shows John Sheley, Sr. & Jr. and Singleton Sheley.  By 1850 John Sheley, age 35, wife Mary Moore and children; John S. and Robert.  I believe this to me my line.  John S. Shely, was in Texas by 1854 and married to Susannah Rutledge.  Also, a William Shely married Mary Ann Benevedes in Calhoun County, Texas in 1851. This Kentucky family seems to have been intermixed with the Stapleton family.  Let me know of any information.
