Esther Begley

PAYNE -- Esther Begley, 100, Payne, died at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, in her home.

She was born May 11 1907, in Lechter County, Ky., the daughter of Willie and Clara (Collins) Callahan. In 1921, she married Julius Begley, who died in 1950. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Payne.

Surviving three daughters, Coteal Lee of Silver Springs, Fla., Mildred (Gene) Schoenauer of Payne and Diane Farling, Paulding; five sons, Paul (Ruby) of Corbin, Ky., James (Jean) of Titusville, Fla., Arnold of Dothan, Ala., David (Linda) of Payne and Bruce (Jeanet), Cape Canaveral, Fla.; three sisters, Ruth Napier of Hyden, Ky., Erma Smith of Ash, N.C., and Lillian Evans, Mineral Springs, N.C.; and 36 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were a son, Michael; three daughters, Lorene Gordon, Bernadyne Rogers and Barbara Guyton; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul United Methodist Church, Payne, with Pastors Amy Haines and Max Begley officiating. Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Forders Bridge, Cecil. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Preferred memorials are to the church.
