Ormsby Graveyard
*Located: 8521 LaGrange Road. Go into the gates
for The Brook at KMI. The graveyard is near the tree line separating
the campus from the neighborhood next door, past the visitor parking
lot. The cemetery is on the grounds of what was once the Ormsby
family home. The house, Maghera Glass, still stands, and is on the
National Register of Historic Places. |
This transcription was taken from "The Kentucky
Genealogist". Vol. 25, No. 1, dated Jan.-Mar. 1983, a quarterly
publication of the Kentucky Historical Society.
These works are probably the greatest I've found for finding anything
related to Kentucky genealogy. I highly recommend anyone look
for them. They are wonderful! Pease email your
coordinators if you have any questions regarding this
cemetery. The birthday calculator was used to obtain a couple of
birth dates: http://www.obitcentral.com/calc.htm
(note from editor of publication: The Ormsby Mansion, once the
Administration Bldg of KMI, burned to the ground in July of 1982)
*(The current listing says that the house burned to the ground in
1982, but it is still there).
