Blue of Marion, Crittenden Co., KY, for compensation for service of his slave, Willie Baldwin. The form states that Blue was the lawful owner of Baldwin and “that he purchased him from James S. Baldwin in January 1860, that at the time of his purchase he received a bill of sale for said slave, which has been lost or mislaid and cannot now be filed.” Attested by R.W. Wilson & D.N. Stinson. Blue signed oath of allegiance to the Union on 15 January 1867.

File included application of Mrs. Lucinda Bigham for compensation for slave, filed 30 January 1867. Bigham stated that she owned the slave “by inheritance from her mother Mrs. Sarah E. Linthicum.”

Baldwin) in 1837 [Date can’t be right as Benjamin was born circa 1846.]
