Green County Obituaries

EDWARDS, Matilda---Wednesday afternoon about 1 o'clock Mrs. Matilda Edwards, an aged colored woman, died at her home in this town, of general debilities after a long illness.  She was about 70 years of age.  She was
born before the war and was owned by Jim Edwards.  She leaves three children, two sons who live in Jeffersonville and Indianapolis, and one daughter, Mrs. Joe Marshall of Greensburg.  She was well liked by many of our citizens who knew her as a very industrious, honest woman.  The funeral will be held Friday at which it is expected the sons will attend.---15 July 1914 (Greensburg Record)
