Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Bourland, 88, who died yesterday morning at the home of her son, County Tax Assessor-Collector John Bourland, 1716 Belmont Avenue, will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Keller Baptist Church.
Rev. J. R. Hardy will officiate and burial will be in the Bourland Cemetery at Keller. Pallbearers will be six grandsons, Lee, Lewis, Jack, Delphus and Hugh Bourland, and John White.
Mrs. Bourland had resided in Tarrant County for 64 years. She was the widow of Rev. A. D. Bourland, minister in the Primitive Baptist church.
Survivors are five sons, John and J. E. Bourland, Fort Worth; Andy, Lige and Green Bourland, Vernon; one brother, C. M. White, Keller; and two sisters, Mrs. Lou Brigance and Miss Mary White, Commerce.

Martha Elizabeth WHITE and Aurelius Delphus "A. D." BOURLAND were married on 1 July 1872 at Fannin County, Texas in Fannin County, Texas. Aurelius Delphus "A. D." BOURLAND was born on 20 March 1840 in North Carolina. He died on 1 August 1904 at the age of 64 in Tarrant County, Texas.

Said to have served in the Civil War, bought land in Tarrant Co, 1873. He was a Primitive Baptist preacher.

Bourland Cemetery Historical Marker
Aurelius Delphus Bourland (1840-1904), a North Carolina native and a veteran of the Civil War, bought land here in 1873. A farmer and Primitive Baptist preacher, he first used this site as a family cemetery. The earliest marked grave is that of his grandson A. Delphus White, who died in 1886. In 1899 Bourland sold 2.5 acres, including the grave sites, to the residents of Keller (1.5 mi SW) for use as a public burial ground. Additional land was given by the families of Bourland in 1947 and A.B. Harmonson (1891-1967) in 1977. The gateway was built by the Works Progress Administration in 1935. (1981)

According to "The Bourlands in America," published by The Bourland Society, Inc. in 1978: Aurelius Delphus Bourland was born in Caswell County, North Carolina on 20 or 22 March 1840; his parents names are unknown; after his father died he moved with his mother to Calhoun County, Alabama before the start of the Civil War; he enlisted in 1861 and served until the end of the war; he settled in Texas in Fannin County by 1867, and finally moved to Tarrant County by 1873. This information was obtained from "Mrs. A. B. Hamonson of Keller, TX, who is preparing a history of the Keller community..."

Death Certificate for Louis Edward Bourland, son of James Edward Bouland and Lula Cordelia McCain. Louis was born 19 Aug 1900, Keller, TX and died 29 Mar 1970, at the Northwest Hospital in Ft. Worth. His home was 5613 N. Schilder Drive in River Oaks, Tarrant Co, TX. He was married - probably to Mrs. Edna Bourland who was the informant. He served in World War I. Louis worked in plant protection at General Dynamics.
