CONNEAUT — Lysle E. Ely Jr., age 80, of Conneaut, Ohio, died early Monday morning, July 5, 2010, at his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 7, 1930, in Niles, Ohio, the son of Lysle Sr. and Helen (Steele) Ely.
An area resident for most of his life, Mr. Ely had worked for 10 years at Presque Isle Plastics and was a self-employed auto body man, operating the B&M Shop in Conneaut.
He was a member of New Apostolic Church, where he had taught confirmation class and the Hudson Club.
He enjoyed cars, cars, cars, especially anything old or antique. His garage was a gathering place for his many friends and old car enthusiasts.
Survivors include his caring and devoted companion, Ella Mayberry of Conneaut; his daughter, Roberta (Randy) Hall of Rock Creek, Ohio; four sons, Tom (Phyllis) Ely of Ravenna, Ohio, Joseph (Susan) Ely and Lysle (Sarah) Ely III, both of Conneaut and Leonard Ely of Newark, Ohio; two sisters, Elizabeth (Ronnie) Fails and Grace Ely, both of Middlefield, Ohio; his brother, Robert Ely of Quaker City, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Georgia Ely; a daughter, Judith Ely; and a grandson, Joseph Ely.

Memorial Service will be 7 p.m., Thursday, July 8th, at New Apostolic Church, corner of Sandusky and State Streets, Conneaut, Ohio. Following cremation, burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 7th, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio.
