Henry County Genealogy Society

The Henry County Genealogical Society was founded on January 24, 1983. Meetings are held on the second floor of the Kewanee Public Library at 102 S. Tremont Street on the 4th Monday of each month, except December. SEE HOME PAGE FOR MEETING TIMES AND PROGRAMS. No meeting in December.

The Society also has its research information housed at the Kewanee Public Library in its own room on the lower level. All materials housed there are available to the public. The genealogy area is equipped with a computer, printer and diskettes of genealogical material available to both member and non-member for use on site.

HCGS has Genealogists to help you with your . We know it is difficult to do Research when you do not live in the county.

Family and Individual Memberships are available in both yearly and lifetime increments. Membership in the society entitles one to receive quarterly issues of the Henry County Geni at no additional charge. The Geni has about 25 pages or more and contains reference data, genealogical articles and Society news along with queries and other useful reference information. Everyone is welcome,JOIN TODAY.

The Henry County Genealogical Society has a comprehensive list of Publications for sale including Marriage record Books, Census Indexes, Naturalization Records, Birth Record Indexes, Probate Records, Obituaries and Cemetery Inscriptions.

HCGS provides the criteria and applications for obtaining a Henry County Pioneer Certificate. If you are a direct Ancestor who resided in Henry County between 1837 to 1885, you are eligible to apply for a Pioneer Certificate. It is a numbered certificate suitable for framing. FORM  Here are some of the Pioneer Familes that have been certified.
