A new and outstanding business in Hamilton is the R. C.
A. Auto Supply owned and operated by R. C.
Andrews, formerly of Fort
Worth. Mr. Andrews recently entered the business life in Hamilton and
comes well trained for this line of work. He is a skilled electrician,
having a diploma in electrical engineering and was at one time connected
with the engineering department of the Magnolia plant in Fort Worth.
Chas. H. Andrews was the father of the subject of this
sketch and Lucy Medrill Andrews was the mother--both Texans. His
grandfather was Ben Andrews, a skilled rock mason and colorful character
of Tarrant County. Many of the old rock chimneys in Fort Worth and Tarrant
County are still standing and are retained because of the beauty of their
architectural lines and construction. This worthy pioneer was born in 1826
at Lincolnshire, England, and was killed a few years ago in an accident on
the old First Street bridge in Fort Worth. He was a Scottish Rite Mason.
R. C. Andrews’s grandmother, Mrs. Caroline Bugoon Andrews came to Texas
from Iowa in 1849, and at that time there were only two log cabins in
Dallas--one being a trading post and the other a residence. She witnessed
the moving of the Tarrant County courthouse from Birdwell to Fort Worth.
The maternal grandmother of Mr. [or
Mrs--paper is torn] Andrews was Eli Merrill, the first child
born in Dallas. His mother still lives on the family farm in Tarrant
County.
Mr. Andrews’ wife is Mary Ellen Porter Andrews, born
in the Comanche Reservation of Oklahoma. Her parents were among the first
pioneers of that State.
It is the purpose of Mr. Andrews to build up a wholesale
and retail trade that will be so general in its demand for accessories and
parts for any type of car that it will justify him to carry a complete
stock of accessories not often found in a town the size of Hamilton, and
will enable him to become a competitor of mail order houses.
In addition to supplies, the R. C. A. probably stocks
the largest number of used tires of any place in the county. They also
handle Sinclair Gasoline and Oils.
The News urges is readers to get acquainted with Mr.
Andrews and inspect his stock.
