Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 24, 2000
for Lavada Towery, 88.
She died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000 in the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Towery was a resident of Thorndale and a lifelong resident of Milam County and a member of Trinity
United Methodist Church in Thorndale. She was born June 26, 1912 in Milam County to John Clayton and
Katie Mae (Springer) Williams. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Towery was preceded in death by her
husband, Leon, July 30, 1965; a son Thomas Towery, August 13, 1994 and her parents.
Surviving are
one son, Tregg Towery and wife Anna of Waco; daughter, Twyla Wilson and husband Daryle of Alvin; eight
grandchildren, Tammy Holder, Trent Towery, Tracy Tynes, Timothy Towery, Teri Pharr, Trina Miller, Toby
Towery and Clint Wilson; sister Eugenia Vinton of Milano and 9 great-grandchildren. Pall bearers were
Jackie Bohn Towery, Glenn Towery, Kenneth Caffey, Gary Don Vinton, Douglas Springer, Doug Wilde.
