Curtis Eiland was born in Milam County, Texas to Joseph Leandra and Willie (Hazell) Eiland. He was one of ten children. He was a 1941 graduate of Rockdale High School. Curtis served in the U.S. Army from March 11, 1943 to February 16, 1946. Curtis and Kathryn Margaret Skeeters were married on March 2, 1946 in Eagle Lake, Texas. To this union three children were born. After Kathryn's death, he and Eva Jean Brumbelow were married on April 13, 2002.

Curtis started with Houston Lighting and Power, became a Lineman and worked his way up to Supervisor. He retired after 42 years. Curtis was a volunteer fireman in the Recreation Acres Community and a member of Full Gospel Church in the community from 1946 to 1993. He served on the Klein I.S.D. School Board from 1959 to 1971. The Eiland Elementary School in Klein was named in their honor. He was involved in the purchase and building of Midwest Bible Institute when it was moved to Houston from Missouri. After they left the Klein area, they moved to Belton where he was a member of First Assembly of God in Belton.

Curtis passed away on a Wednesday in the Scott & White Hospital in Temple, reaching the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Eiland on November 18, 2000. Their son, Bryant Keith Eiland. His parents. Five brothers, Charles Vernon Eiland, Sr., Emory James Eiland, Joseph Otis Eiland, William Nolan Eiland, Sr., and Floyd Wayne Eiland. Four sisters, Anna Iona Pruitt, Avis Raye Yoakum, Edna Mae DuBois and Laura Neil Hill. Services for Curtis Eiland were held Monday, February 4, 2013 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Burial followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Pastor Harry Thrasher officiated. Phillips and Luckey
