About Leona W Eiland:
Leona went to college and became a school teacher. She first taught at Bushdale school. When Joe and
WIllie's daughter, Edna Mae, started to school Leona would pick her up in her buggy and take her to
school with her so she would not have to walk all the way to Gay Hill school.

in Phillips & Luckey Chapel. Burial in IOOF Cemetery. Rev. N.A. Mills, pastor of Meadowbrook Baptist
Church, officiated. She was BORN 11/4/1897 in Rockdale to M/M. William T. Eiland. She was a Shreveport
resident for 10 yrs., but had formerly lived in Corsicana. Preceded in death by husband, Rudolph Von
Gonten, Jr. in 1963. SURVIVORS: 2 sons, Douglas Von Gonten of Bryan and James Von Gonten of Shreveport;
2 brothers, Wilbur Eiland of Rockdale and Clyde Eiland of Rockdale; 5 grandchildren. SS Death Benefit
