About Sarah Eiland:
The Eiland Family Cemetery is located about 1/2 mile behind the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Clanton,
Al It has been deeded over to the Bethel Church
FACT - Sarah is the first person buried in
the original Eiland Family Cemetery.
Interesting story (from Cecil Little) passed down through
the family: Sarah had always tied her horse to the tree next to her parents house (as a child). She
made her parents promise that she would be buried under the tree. (she may have died in childbirth).
They could not bear the heartache each time they stepped out of the house with their daughter's grave
in sight so within a year OR two after her death they had their house move a half mile away by the road.
Thus started the the Eiland Family Cemetery which was eventually deeded to the Bethel Primitive Baptist
Church so now it is the Eiland Family/Bethel Cemetery even though the Eiland part is about a half-mile
from the church's cemetery!
