Harry James Claffey, Jr.    HOUSTON, TX
Harry James Claffey, Jr., 89, passed away on February 11, 2009 in The Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX following multiple stokes and heart 
failure. Born January 19, 1920 in Richwood, Union County, Ohio to Harry James Claffey, Sr. and Mary Belle McFadden Claffey.
 He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Irene Jones Claffey; three daughters, Patricia Lee Claffey Pillow, Janet Susan Claffey (Wright), 
Carolyn Ann Claffey Searcy; son-in-law, Albert Rodman Searcy; grandchildren, Patrick Thomas Pillow, Deborah Kay Pillow, Jennifer Emily Wright, Lance Christian Searcy, Kristen Michelle Searcy, and Molly Glyncora Searcy; great grandchildren, Joshua Thomas Pillow, Jordan Kyle Pillow, Ryan Jeffery Pillow; plus nieces and nephews.
  Preceded in death by sister, Josephine Irene Claffey Wygle; brother, Lawrence Albert Claffey; sister, Betty Marie Claffey Gerbes.
Survived by brother, Fairfax Douglas Claffey and wife, Norma; sister, Nancy Ann Claffey Pugh.
  Harry grew up in Richwood, Ohio and Marion, Ohio, but lived and worked for 43 years in Houston, Texas. He was employed by various oil and chemical companies in sales and engineering design prior to retirement as General Manager in 1984. Harry will be long remembered for his keen mind and sense of humor. The family wishes to thank his caregivers for the medical attention he received during his illness.
 Visitation is 1:00 - 2:00 PM. Monday. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM   Monday February 16, at Klein Funeral Home, Magnolia.
The interment will follow in Klein Memorial Park, Magnolia.

  Jerry DiskinFrancis Jerome "Jerry" Diskin, a federal prosecutor who handled terrorism, fraud and drug cases, died on June 1 from complications of brain surgery. He was 57.

A native of Mineola, N.Y., Diskin graduated from Catholic University in Washington D.C., and earned his law degree from Georgetown University. He clerked for Judge Harry E. Wood at the U.S. Court of Claims for a year, then spent three years with the Army Judge Advocate Corps at Fort Lewis Base in Washington.

Diskin launched a 30-year career with the U.S. Attorney's Office in 1976. Working out of the Western District of Washington branch, he served as chief of the criminal division, senior litigation counsel, supervisor of the drug unit and interim U.S. attorney.
was arrested in 1999 as he tried to enter the U.S. from British Columbia through Port Angeles, Wash. In a truck filled with bomb-making materials, Ressam planned to drive down the West coast and blow up Los Angeles International Airport. Instead, he was In 2001, Diskin gained national attention for successfully prosecuting the "Millennium Bomber." Algerian terrorist Ahmed Ressam apprehended by authorities and prosecuted by Diskin for plotting terrorist activities.Ressam was convicted of conspiracy to commit international terrorism and on various explosives charges. In exchange for a reduced prison sentence, he has provided information to the government about Al Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan.Diskin's superior performance as an assistant U.S. attorney was recognized in 2001 when he received a Director's Award from the United States Attorney General.

Downey Loretta B. (Ring)   Falmouth, MA
   Loretta B. (Ring) Downey, of Falmouth, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at the Atria Woodbriar of complications of a long, debilitating disease. She was the wife of Dr. William S. Downey Jr.; they were married 51 years. Born in Sharon, the daughter of the late William and Anna (Claffey) Ring, she moved to New Bedford in 1953. Several years later, she and her family moved to Mattapoisett.  In 1985, she and her husband moved to Gainesville, Fla., and in 1990, when her husband retired, they moved to Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.
   Mrs. Downey was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury, and Simmons College in Boston, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She began her nursing career in the emergency room at Massachusetts General Hospital and within a few months was named the night head nurse. Two years later, she became one of three nighttime nursing supervisors for all the facilities at MGH.  In 1951,
at the request of the East and West surgical division at MGH, the hospital promoted her to a new position, that of joint head nurse of the male surgical wards of these competing groups.
   In 1967, she and her husband were inducted into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, a papal order many centuries old, at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City with Cardinal Cushing of Boston  presiding. Since then, she rose in rank from Lady of the Holy Sepulchre to Lady Grand Cross of the Holy Sepulchre, the highest rank a layperson can attain. 
   In 1992, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her induction into the order, she made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and received the Holy Sepulchre pilgrim medal from the most Rev. Michel Sabbah, the Roman  Catholic patriarch of Israel and Jordan. 
   In 1994, she was awarded the Silver Palm of Jerusalem Medal, the first year the award had been given in the United States.  Survivors include her widower; four daughter, Teresa M. Downey of Sea Isle City, N.J., Patricia M. Downey of Colts Neck, N.J., Kathleen M. Downey of Mattapoisett and Bernadette M. Downey of Wayland; five sons, Dennis M. Downey of East Falmouth, David G. Downey of Chicago, Ill.,
Jerome P. Downey of New York City, Brian J. Downey of Westford and Kevin I. Downey of Gainesville; and 24 grandchildren.  She was the mother of the late Martin P. Downey and grandmother of the late Sean M. Downey. 
   Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony's Church, Mattapoisett with burial to follow  in St. Anthony's Cemetery.  Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals,  50 County Road, Route 6, Mattapoisett.

Regina T. Jones, age 76, of Levittown, died Saturday, September 22, 2001 at St. Mary Medical Center, Middletown Twp.  Born in Atlantic City, NJ and a graduate of Holy Spirit High School, Mrs. Jones was a
resident of Levittown since 1954.  She was an executive secretary and personnel manager at Kras Corporation, Fairless Hills, for 20 years until her retirement in 1987.  She had been a member of the staff of Fallsington Library for the past several years.  Daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Claffey, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Regina Colleen.  Mrs. Jones is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Richard L. Jones; three sons, Richard Jeffrey of Perkasie, PA, Dennis R. of Belleville, NJ, and Stephen R. of Silver Springs, MD; and  six grandchildren, Daniel, Laura, Kimberly, Colleen, Carmen and Leah.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church.  Interment will follow in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville, NJ.  Relatives and friends will be received at the church Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Contributions in Mrs. Jones' memory may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church, 9172 New Falls Rd., Fallsington, PA 19054. No flowers please.

KENNEDY - In this city, Tuesday evening, August 13, 1918, at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Cornelius O'BRIEN, 242 Caledonia avenue, Miss Frances KENNEDY. Besides her sister, she leaves surviving two nieces, Miss Anna O'BRIEN, of this city, and Miss Margaret M. COSTELLO, of Kings county, Ireland; one nephew, Michael T. CLAFFEY, of this city. 
-Funeral Friday morning at 8:45 from the house and 9 o'clock at the  Immaculate Conception Church. Interment in family lot at holy Sepulchre cemetery.

Mae C. Landman, age 87, of Winona died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003 at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.  Mary Catherine, known by all as Mae, was born Oct 17, 1915, in St. Paul, Minn., to J. George and Margaret (Sherar) Claffey.  On Oct 22, 1938, she married Louis C. Landman Sr. at St. Mark's Parish, St. Paul.  They previously lived in St. Paul, Jacksonville, Fla., and San Diego, and in 1949, they moved to Winona. 
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona, and the Winona Country Club.  She is survived by her husband Louis; a son Louis Charles (Sandra) Landman, Jr; a daughter Mary Louise (Charles) Nixon; nine grandchildren:  Sandra Louise (Edward) Lowenhar, Elizabeth Ann (Bradley) Stratton, Louis Charles (Lynn) Landman, III, Theresa (Bradley) Kaczorowski, Catherine (Matthew) Wegleitner, Mary Anne Nixon, Murl Edward Landman, Julianne Josephine Nixon and Thomas Charles Nixon; six great-grandchildren, Abigail Laurel Stratton, Cecilia Belle Stratton, Samuel Paul Lowenhar, Nathaniel James Stratton, Lilli Ariel Lowenhar and Charles John Kaczorowski; one sister Mrs. Helen Claffey (Herbert) McDonald and other relatives. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Mrs. June Claffey (Harold) Hammerschmidt; one granddaughter, Lilli Mae Landman; and brothers-in-law.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona, with the Rev. John Sauer, Rev. Msgr. Roy Literski and Rev. Robert Stamschror officiating.  Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. at the church Friday.  Funeral arrangements are being made by Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Viola Beatrice Claffey Miller died April 22, 2003, at her home in Twin Falls, Idaho.
She was born June 1, 1910, in Washington, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Harry Franklin Claffey and Winnie Gallagher Claffey. She was married in 1927 in Wellsburg, West Virginia, to Raymond Clyde Miller and they had two daughters, Beatrice Ann Kuhn (deceased) and Janice Elaine Cicle. In 1967, she married William A. Miller in Yerington, Nevada.
Viola is survived by her daughter, Jan (Bob) Cicle of Twin Falls, sisters Eva Lemley and Alma Mae Wright, and brother George Claffey Fulton, Florida; grandchildren Deborah (Victor) Watkins, Robyn (Jack) Barnes, David Kuhn, Janelle Kaylor, Karla Blackburn, and Robin Wolfe; fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 28, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Alliance Church, 401 6th Ave. North, Twin Falls, with Pastor Jim Evans officiating. The family suggests donations to the Youth Department of the Heritage Alliance Church in memory of Viola.
Services are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls.
