"Clarence L. Dalrymple was born about 1870.  He joined the White House Guard in 1898.  In 1930 he became head of the White House police force.  President Roosevelt said of him that he was faithful and courteous and discharged the duties of an exacting position with fine tact and discretion.  He was one of those public servants whose efficiency through forty years of service was enhanced by a self effacement which placed devotion to duty above all else.  He was a fine example in public service from the first time he arrives in Washington.

Clarence collapsed in a street in Washington D.C. and was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.  The newspaper item stated that he was a native of Jefferson Co., Ohio and that he was 68 years of age."
