The deceased, who was born in Limerick, Ireland, came to New Zealand at an early age. He landed in Dunedin, but shortly after moved to Westport, where he spent the remainder of his life. A man of sterling qualities, whose word was his bond, he was loved and respected by all who knew him. For 33 years, he was employed by the Westport Harbour Board, where he worked faithfully and well.
