Marvin “Monk” Skidmore, 69, Cranks, died April 5, 2003, at his residence.
He was a retired truck driver and believed in the Presbyterian faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Burham Skidmore and Elizabeth
Browning Skidmore; three brothers: Louie Skidmore, Wilder Skidmore and
Claude Skidmore; and two sisters: Viola Barton and Laura Manning.
Survivors include his wife, Eulalah Caldwell Skidmore, Cranks; four
children: Cathy Spurlock and husband, Kyle, Cranks; Wesley Skidmore and
wife, Sandra, Bristol, Tenn.; Vilene Herrell and husband, Brandon, Rose
Hill, Va.; and Scott Skidmore and wife, Leslie, Grays Knob; two brothers:
Howard Skidmore, Cranks; and Danny Barton, Indiana; three sisters: Lydia
Costello, Michigan; Emily Hembree, Wallins; and Francis Williams, Jonesville,
Va.; five grandchildren: Amber Skidmore, Andrea Skidmore, Wesley Skidmore,
Brandy Herrell and Garry Garrett; three step-grandchildren and a host of
other relatives and friends.
Visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Mount Pleasant
Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. at the funeral
home with the reverends Jerry Collins and Jeff Farmer officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Browning
Cemetery in Cranks.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. |
