CVGS Library Section

The Society maintains the Genealogical Section in the south east corner of the Grant R. Brimhall (Thousand Oaks) Library at 1401 E. Janss Road. (Click here to see a map of the library location. Click the Back button on your browser to return.) Our genealogical collection includes over 7,000 books on the following topics:

  • General Reference and "How To"
  • Miscellaneous Biographical
  • Religion
  • Military
  • Ethnic - American Indian, American Jewish, Afro-American
  • Family Genealogies
  • Immigration/Emigration
  • U S States - including a complete set of Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War
  • European countries - especially German and Irish Resources, and the Domesday Books of England

We also have over 370 genealogical periodical titles, microfilm & microfiche, audio tapes. and a collection of CD-ROM disks. We are fortunate to have the Standring Collection of rare books on the British Isles. See a list of all these books on our Standring Collection Page.

The genealogy Room is open and staffed by genealogy volunteers during many of the regular library hours, which are:

2011 Library Schedule
Monday -Thursday 11:00 am - 8:00 pm (open 1 hour later & close 1 hour earlier)
Friday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sunday 12:00 PM - 5:00 pm (open 1 hour earlier)
