Articles Relating to Czech-Slovak Research

Greetings!

We had a great celebration of our ancestor's culture!! Eric Taylor could not make it but his tomato gravy recipe did.....with boiled potatoes, too! Halusky, cheese spread, different sausages, noddles and cabbage casserole, the roast pork, the Liska combined effort of poppy seed buchta, poppy seed muffins, Fred Gressner's creative shopping at Thriftway for more good poppy seed breads, Marilyn Arnoldi's poppy seed buchta, a German chocolate cake from Janet Roediger's bakery in Olympia (see, your contribution does not have to be Czech or Slovak), and two great cabbage roll entries were greatly appreciated!! Yumm.. a good way to anticipate the Thanksgiving holiday!!!

Bev Ryder, Jo Herber and Bettelinn had reports from the Madison Conference. Dick and Arlene Watts explained their rolls as sextants for the Roslyn Slovak Cemetery. Karol Osusky reported on the recent kayak races and invited folks to crosscountry ski on SUndays at 11:00 AM at Hyak Crosscountry Ski Center at Snoqualmie Pass....when the snow arrives. Local Slovaks are waiting to hear when the new Honorary Slovak Consul will be named. Collie Liska attended the FEEFHS Conference at Salt Lake City and made great progress with his Slovak Research. Norb Ziegler shared the Homeland Security request results for his ancestor. Diana Lanspa is still trying to find that ancestral village! Terri Malinowsky and Bettelinn share the same ancestral village and are pursuing that!! Janet Roach found that her ancestral village has a sister city in Kansas so she is in touch getting information from them.

A big welcome to Bonnie and Les Hodgkiss from Puyallup! Bonnie's Slovak family is from the Cle Elum and Roslyn area. And a big welcome back to Janet Roediger from Olympia. Both she and her husband have czech roots.

Many thanks to Fred Gessner for suppling the cultural experience of listening to music from our homelands.

Happy Holidays to you all!!!

Rosie
