Anna (Winkelmann) Stieler b. 1901 d. 26 Jul 1991

Edgar was the son of Ernst Stieler and the grandson of Gottfried Stieler.
Anna was the daughter of Dietrich Winkelmann and the granddaughter of Herman Winkelmann.

Gottfried STIELER married Wilhemina URBAN in Germany and immigrated to the Texas Hill Country in 1854. Their young son, Hermann, age 5, came with them. Two more sons were born after they arrived in Texas: Ernst born in 1856 and Adolph born in 1858. The family lived in Kendall County near the Kerr County line.

Gottfried (sometimes spelled Gottlieb) died in 1893 at the age of 76 and was buried at the cemetery in Comfort, Texas. His wife, Wilhemina died in 1897 at the age of 74 and was buried beside Gottfried in Comfort.

Hermann STIELER married Emma REAL on January 1, 1877, in Kerr County. She was the daughter of Caspar Real and Emelie Schreiner, both from pioneer Kerr County families. Their children were Walter, Ida, Alfred, Emil, Elena, Fritz, Adolph, Gustav and Alma.

Ernst STIELER married Ann STROHACHER on January 12, 1882, in Kerr County. She was the daughter of Louis Strohacher and Catherine Schlader. Their children were Louis, Henry, Edgar, Adolph, and Hilda.

Adolph STIELER married Franciska PFEIFFER on March 29, 1896, in Kerr County, She was the daughter of August Wilhelm Pfeiffer and Katherine Phillip, residents of Kendall County. Their children were Charlotte, Herbert, Ida, and twins Arthur & Hilmar. Adolph sometimes spelled his name “Steiler”.

Dietrich WINKELMAN, Anna W. Stieler’s father, came to America in 1871 with his father, Herman, and lived in Bexar County, Texas. Later Dietrich bought a farm in Denton County, Texas, near the town of Sanger, where he and his family lived and farmed. His wife, Meta, died in 1928. Their known children were Mary, Martha, Emma, Meta, Otto, Anna and Richard.
