Floy Johnson Box, a telegrapher lived in Cumbie, Texas. He was a brother of Nelle Box Robertson and perhaps they were so eager to go west that he too caught the fever. He arrived in McAdoo in the early twenties. He helped the Robertsons with their farming awhile. He was an excellent electrician as well as a mechanic. Many early automobile owners were indebted to him for keeping their cars running. The first telephone system of McAdoo under the ownership of Gene and Emma Bass was kept in working condition with Uncle Floy as chief trouble shooter. Uncle Floy was content to go abou helping others and not asking much in return.
