60 acres.This indenture made this February the Seventeenth one thousand eight hundred and sixty, by and between J. E. Teague of the County of Marion and State of Tennessee, of the one part, and J. N. Smith of the County and State aforesaid:
Witness, for and in consideration of the sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars to me in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the said J. E. Teague hath and by these presents both bargain and sell, alien convey and confer unto the said J. N. Smith all his right, title, interest, claim and demands as aforesaid in and to a certain tract or parcel of land, situate, lying in the County of Marion and State of Tennessee, in the 3rd Civil district, containing by estimation sixty acres, be the same more or less bonded as follow, to-wit:Beginning at a Sycamore, corner of J. R. Ashburns tract of land; then along his line 58 west 106 poles to White Oak on the Southeast side of Sequatchie River; thence down the River meandering the same to a Sycamore at the bend of said River; thence down the same angling to a large White Oak toping the same to stake and pointers on Elizabeth Griffith's dowry line; thence down the River with said line to a conditional side between Samuel C. Cowen and William Cowen to a sake near the fourth of William Cowen, Jr's line; then Northward crossing the River, running with said conditional line 59 poles to a Hickey Bush; then Northeast with said conditional line 20 poles to a stake at the corner of William Cowen, Sen., fence; thence Westward to the River with a conditional line made said, J. E. Teague and P. H. Grayson to a stake and pointers; then down said River with its said meanders to the beginning.
To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land unto the said, J. N. Smith, and his heirs forever from the claims and demands of the said, J. E. Teague, his heirs and all other person of persons claiming by, through or under him the said, J. E. Teague, and against all and every person whatever, the said, J. E. Teague will earnest and forever defend, with all the appurtenances and hereditaments belonging. The said, J. E. Teague have hereunto set his hand and seal and delivered in the presence of us:

Marion County.Personally appeared before me, W. Byrne, Clerk of the County Court for said County, Joshua E. Teague, with whom I am personally acquainted, and acknowledged the execution of the foregoing and annexed deed of conveyance on the day it bears date for the purposes therein contained and expressed.
