Thanks to all our people

First, we would like to thank all of our regular volunteers for all of the hard work you do!

FreeCEN volunteers comprise hundreds of people all over the world who love genealogy and want to help others. They give up many hours of their own free time to help transcribe, proof-read and get the Scotland Census returns online for family history researchers to view free of charge. Without them, there would not be a Free Census. Thank you!

Past Scotland Coordinators

The FreeCEN Scotland project would not have achieved so much without the leadership it has enjoyed from its three past Scotland Coordinators:

Jen Gribble, USA: Jen started the Scotland FreeCEN project. She did the initial footwork to set up the contracts and organised the first volunteers. Unfortunately, Jen had then to leave for personal reasons.

Richard Bowden

Richard Bowden, UK: Richard took over from Jen and pushed the Scotland FreeCEN project forward. He brought on many new County Coordinators during his time as Scotland Coordinator. After handing over the reins, Richard remained as the Midlothian Coordinator until recently and he continues to be an enthusiastic supporter of FreeCEN Scotland.

Michelle Jeffery

Michelle Jeffery, USA: Michelle took over from Richard and ensured that the project went from strength to strength. She continued as Scotland Coordinator until the end of 2010. Michelle remains the Coordinator for Aberdeenshire, Nairnshire and the Merchant & Royal Navy Census of Scotland, continuing to be an important member of the project team.

Past County Coordinators

Thanks are also due to the many past County Coordinators who have worked tirelessly to see that the Scottish Census returns are made available online. They recruit, organise and help teams of volunteer transcribers and checkers, and then ensure that the results are uploaded to the FreeCEN database.
