Mallory family - Monongalia Co., VA
Date: Sun, 25 Jan 1998
From: "David L. Mallory" <[email protected]>
Have been searching for the names of the parents of MEREDITH MALLORY, born
in VA abt. 1806-09. He is listed in the 1830 Monongalia C0., VA census,
also in tax records of same county from abt. 1831-1834. He moved to Fayette
Co., PA, and remained there and is most probably buried there. His oldest
two sons were born in VA--Joseph Johnson (my line) called Johnson and Edward.
The other children were born in PA. Meredith's wife, Maria (maiden name
unknown) was born in PA. Johnson was born in, according to his discharge
papers from the Civil War, Marion County, VA, 9Sept1830. Was Marion Co.
separated from Monongalia Co. by that birth date? I am at a standstill at
this point on where to search next. Perhaps you might have some suggestions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to find information about Benjamin Franklin Mallory who
lived in Attica, Iowa around 1900. He had a wife and 3 children but eventually
left them and went to California or somewhere out west. I think he had a
brother Ryle Mallory who also lived in the area. Thank you for any

Peter Mallory family
Date: 28 Mar 1998
From: I Wallace <[email protected]>
I was very pleased to stumble across your Mallory pagestoday, you have done
a really good job on them. My wife is descended from Thomas Mallory and
Elizabeth Vaughan by way of Martha (Katherine) Mallory who married John
Batt. I have been trying for a couple of weeks to get hold of a copy of
Mrs Smith's book, so it was really useful to find you had provided extracts.
At first glance I could not see anything that clashes with my research but
I will cross check everything over the course of the next few days.
I have recently been corresponding with a couple of people descended
from Peter Mallory of New Haven, whose descent from the Yorkshire Mallory
family is generally accepted to be discredited. I will let them know about
your pages. It seemed to me that Peter Mallory of New Haven was more likely
to have descended from the Mallory family of Papworth, it was with the aim
of checking out this possibility (as well as a theory that all the prominent
Mallory families in 13/14/15th century England were related) that I wished
to get hold of Mrs Smith's book. It seems I have been forestalled on the
latter point! I thought I was the only person to have noticed the significance
of the double tailed lion in the coat of arms. I have some research planned
for the Easter period, it would be very useful to know what Mrs Smith has
to say about the Papworth family, any chance of you adding Pedigree G to
your pages?
There are a lot of noble and royal ancestors for the Yorkshire Mallory family
in the female lines, let me know if you want any information. As far as
the male line is concerned I am finding the de Zouche marriage a stumbling
block, it is clear where the line should go but I am not convinced there
is a documented available female. Ian Wallace. |

LA Mallorys

From: "John M. Mallory" <[email protected]>
My name is John Maxwell Mallory. Born in 1958 to Maxwell Huey Mallory,Jr.,
and Johnnie Wise in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Grandfather was Max H. Mallory,
Sr. (Ruston, La.) and Grandmother was Violet Sherrard (Simmsboro, La.) Have
d.o.b. info, etc from family Bibles, some so old that the covers were made
of wood, most hand written info not legible.
In 1976, I received a graduation card from a long-lost kinfolk in
California (Los Angeles area, I believe) from a Great great-great?)Aunt
in the nursing home there. I didn't know who she was, but my Grandmother
(Violet) remembered her husband talking about having an uncle who up and
left Louisiana (early 1920's?) to seek his "fortune" in California,
and this turned out to be a desendant of my grandfather's Uncle John. She
even included an old photo of Uncle John standing in front of a warf, with
boats behind him. Not sure if he was a part of, or was involved in, the
Mallory shipping line in California, but other photos of him I've seen since
all show boats, warfs, ships, etc. My father always said his dad claimed
we were "split" (meaning, I suppose,an early dispute had separated
family members) from the Mallory's that eventually had the Mallory Battery
Company (now Dura-Cell, the "Copper-Top" battery) and the Mallory
Ignition Systems company, both appearently out West (certainly not in Louisiana,
anyway). My father was an only child, my grandfather had a couple of siblings,
but not much records exist of them in my posession.
We moved to Oklahoma City in late 1987, and now have three additional Mallory
offsprings, the eldest is John Matthew Mallory (10 yrs old), the middle
is Anna Kathryn Mallory (8 yrs old), and the youngest is Janna Clare Mallory
(4 yrs old). I have an older sister, Sheri Mallory Ritchie, living in the
Houston area.
I am certainly suprised, and delighted, to see a Mallory Family
Web-Page, and will try to update you with family info I can find in my dad's
and grandfather's (both now deceased) belongings.
Hi to all my cousins!!!! |

Howdy-
My name is Ted James Mallory, of Granada Hills, Ca I have traced Mallorys
through my grandfater, Clifton Frank Mallory (1906-1984) of Petosky, Michigan,
to Harley Dow Mallory (1881-1957) married to Elsie Bayha, to George Dow
Mallory married to Adelia Bennet,
and finally back to a John Dow Mallory (somewhere between 1790's-1880's)
who had married a Eunice Davis. That's where I'm stuck. My understanding
is that John Dow Mallory is a decendent of a Peter Mallory who came to Massatchussetts
in the 1630's. Appearently some records were lost in courthouse or church
fires in either Michigan or Ohio. I was wondering
if you could help fill in the gap (I realize it's about an 8-generation
gap, but anything you can do to help would be greatly appretiated!)Also,
while I haven't up-loaded my own family history yet, I have a pretty big
web-site and, with your permission, I'd like to add a link to your site
from mine. Would that be Okay? My site is located at---

William Mallory NC to Ky to Mo
Sat, 21 Nov 1998 10:02:48 EST
From: [email protected]
Hi Paula
I read your info on genforum on the Mallory's. I am stumped on my line.
I go back to William Mallory b. 1787 according to census records in North
Carolina. His children were all born in Kentucky, John, George, William
Perkins, Elizabeth, Lucy Ann, and Constantine Perkins. They came to Mo.
In the 1830's and were in the 1840 Barry Co. Mo. census and he was one of
the
first land entries in Dade Co. Mo. when it was formed in 1841. Dade was
originaly part of Barry. I have the records on the Division of Williams
estate, he died in Sept. 1851. It left the unknown heirs of George E. Mallory
deceased a share of the estate and I havn't been able to find any other
record of George so I wonder if he came to Mo. The rest of the family was
here.
Elizabeth was deceased and her two children were mentioned and Constantine
was deceased also. He was alot younger than the rest and in 1850 was 16
so he was around that age when he died. Williams wife was possibly on the
1840 census but of coarse it just told head of house. She was deceased by
1850, so I have no idea who she was. I wonder if she was a Perkins since
two of the children had that for a middle name. But there was a Dr. Constantine
Perkins that traved from Kentucky to Mo. at the same time I don't know if
he was a family member or close friend. I really could use some help on
finding out who William's wife was and who his parents were. You have done
so much research I thought maybe you had run onto my line somewhere. There
are many many decendents of William still in Dade Co. Mo. I would appreciate
any help you could give me and it would be nice to here from you and of
coarse I would share any info I have with you if your interested. Also there
was some confusion on Williams name, a Dade Co. history book says his name
was John. I don't know if who ever gave the info was confused or if he was
John William or William John and he went by William since he had a son John.
Son John is the only one that didn't stay in Mo. After the civil war he
took his family to Texas. He died in Greyson Co. Texas. I have been researching
this line for ten years off and on. I didn't mean to write so much but love
genealogy and get carried away sometimes.

Your assumption that Sarah Street died; therefore, Jeremiah Morton
was appointed guardian is incorrect. Sarah married #2 Jeremiah and they
had three children see his will Orange Co., Va. Also, I found this in the
Library of Congress in a family genealogy book on Morton. Good
webpage--I see some gaps in my line. I think my line stems from Mary Mallory
who married William Cave, she was daughter of Roger and Sara.

married a William Terrill.I don't have any specific dates, but this William
had a brother Edmund who was born in 1740, so it would be in the same general
time span.I have been able to find a lot of info on the Terrill line, but
have
come to a halt on Mary. I know that Mary and William had a daughter named
Mary Emily Terrill, also known as Polly. I believe they had at least one
other child, a son named william. Any help you could give me would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you very much. Linda Pollard. |
