MEAFORD EXPRESS (1915) - Mr. John Rose, eldest son of Mr. Wm. Rose, Sr., passed away at his residence, Denmark Ave., early on Tuesday morning after a long illness from anemia. Deceased has been ailing for about a year, but it was only about two months ago that his malady became acute and caused anxiety to his family and friends.
   The late Mr. Rose was born at Drayton, Ont. And came to Meaford with his parents in 1871. After serving on many of the lake boats as......... he took charge of the Collingwood waterworks station and held the position of head engineer there for some 16 or 17 years. Some eighteen months ago he returned to Meaford and was in the employ of the Seaman-Kent Co., which position he had to abandon on account of ill health.
   In January 1895 he was married to Miss Martha Clarke, daughter of the late Noble Clarke, who survives with a family of three, two daughters and one son. He is also survived by an aged father, three brothers and four sisters as follows: Mrs. S. Weaver, Mrs. E. Milligan, Galt; and Mrs. P. Benson and Mrs. Perks, Meaford; Wm., Meaford; Frank, Little Current; Fred, Providence Bay.
   The funeral will be held from his late residence to Meaford Cemetery at Two o'clock this afternoon.
