CHAS. T. BOYES
PASSES SUNDAY
IN 87TH YEAR
MEAFORD, Jan. 17, 1949 - A long and active life came to a close on Sunday evening in Meaford, when Charles T. Boyes passed away in his 87th year. The late Mr. Boyes had been ill for 10 weeks prior to his death.
   Born in Meaford in 1862, deceased was the only son of the late Joseph and Emma Boyes. He received his education in Meaford, before moving with his parents to a farm on the 9th line of St. Vincent Township. After farming in that district for many years, deceased moved to a farm at Williamsford, where he lived until retiring to Owen Sound seven years ago. The late Mr. Boyes was married in 1895 to Harriet Allan, who predeceased him in 1920. He later married Sophia McGillivary, who survives.
   Deceased was a member of Bethesda United Church, acting as trustee and steward for several years. He was a member of the Canadian Order of Forresters. He acted as assessor for St. Vincent Township for a number of years.
   He is survived by three sons and three daughters, Henry H. Boyes and Reginald Boyes of St. Vincent Township, George Boyes of Detroit, Alma, Mrs. L. Baker and Ruth Boyes of Manitoulin and Marian Boyes, a registered nurse at Markdale. One sister, Mrs. Seymour Bumstead of Meaford. Also survives, are 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two sisters, Mrs. Isaac Smith and Mrs. Samuel Greenfield of Meaford predeceased him a number of years ago.
