Bartmess was born in Gas City, Ind. He moved to Spencer 26 years
ago-from Shreveport, La. He was retired from Trumbull Asphalt Co.
Bartmess worked with the Demolay and was a member of Spencer United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Inez; four sons, Vernon Jr., Santa
Ann, Gilif.; Ross, Spencer; C h a r I e s, 3108 Windsor Ave., and
John. Del City; two daughters, Mrs. Julia EasJey, Shreveport, and
Marjorie Bartmess, 1301 Harvard Ave.; three brothers, Paul, Gilbert,
Ark.; Watson, Springhill, La., and Ulyssis Bartmess Jr., Barney,
Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Roberta Tye, Richmond, Ind.
