April 1, 2009

On March 28, 2009, Dixie Mae Bennett passed from this life to a most glorious one where she will be reunited with her husband, Lafayette, a few cats and dogs, and lots of family members. Dixie had been fighting Alzheimer's for several years and recently had suffered a few strokes. Dixie graduated from Chattanooga High.

As well as her husband, Dixie is preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Bertha Mae Baugh Dean Ridgeway and Oral Ridgeway as well as her father and stepmother, Harvey Lee Dean and Irene Dean; and her siblings, Aline Smith, Clara Anderson, Anita Jo Lefler, and Johnny L Dean.

She is survived by a son, Michael L Bennett, Grand Lake; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah D Strother and William H Stremlow of the home; and her only granddaughter, Rea Jade Strother also of the home. Her nieces will miss her, Amanda Neal, Rachel Neal, Linda Lefler, Patti Lefler, David Lefler, Cricket Bills, Sandi Anderson, Pam Isaacson, Mike and Laura Bills and Tim and Laura Bills. The family would like to thank friends and relatives for condolences. Thank you to Dr. Athena Fries for her excellent care all these years, and many, many thanks to Carter Hospice. Services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 2, 2009 in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with internment following in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
