"W. F. Enfield, 87, Dies At Home In S. Lebanon"
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock for William Francis Enfield, 87, who died at his home in South Lebanon Fraiday morning. Rev. Robbins was in charge of the services and interment was made in the South Lebanon Cemetery.
For a number of years Mr. Enfield had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Barker, in South Lebanon. He was a brother of Zeph Enfield, Lebanon.

AGED CIVIL WAR VETERAN IS DEAD
Zephaniah L. Enfield Dies At Home Here Last Saturday

Zephaniah L. Enfield, among the last of Lebanon’s Civil War veterans and a well known resident of this community for many years, passed away at his home here on last Saturday. In failing health for several years he submitted to an operation last September and although successful the ordeal weakened him to such an extent that he was unable to survive a more recent illness.

Military services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Oswald Funeral Home with members of Fred Craver Post, Spanish War Veterans, serving as pall bearers. Taps were sounded over the grave and a final salute fired by the American Legion firing squad. The Rev. Harry S. Mabie conducted the services.

Mr. Enfield was born in Salem township April 9, 1844 and spent practically his entire life in this county, a majority of the time in and near Lebanon. His early years were spent in farming.

On September 9, 1861, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Union army, serving a three-year enlistment. On Christmas Day, 1865, he married Miss Mary Jane Davis, of Oxford, Ohio, a union that lasted until her death in 1912.

Four daughters and a son survive, Mrs. Thomas Fraser and Mrs. Sarah Simonton, of Lebanon, Mrs. Earl Shinn of near Ridgeville, Mrs. Guy Bryant, of Beavertown, and Frank Enfield, of Lebanon. Two other children, William Lee Enfield, and Mrs. Flora Mae Hardy, are dead.

Mr. Enfield was a member of Granville Thurston Post, Grand Army of the Republic, and was active in the affairs of this organization throughout his entire life.
