He appeared in the census in 1860 in Brutus, Cayuga, NY. Page 116. Have not actually viewed this census to be sure this is the right Lester, but his wife died in Brutus, and is buried there. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Auburn, Cayuga, NY. A Lester Brotherton, age 69, appears on page 284A, under William Moses in what must be a large institution, with over 200 men in it -- probably the Auburn state penitentiary. Lester Brotherton and Orilla ___ appeared in
the census in 1835 in Antwerp, Jefferson, NY. Lester Brotherton:

18, F.; Lucy A., 15, F; Melvina, 11, F.; Wm. H., 7, M.; Orin, 6, M.; George W.,
5, M. The ages for Lester & Orilla are obviously wrong. At first I thought
the parents were absent, and their oldest children were named for them, but the
ages are all wrong, but also are too young for the parents, and must be in error.
They appeared in the census in 1855 in Elbridge, Onondaga, NY. NY
