NY, as follows: "Melvin Brotherton, Evans Mills, Expires. Evans
Mills -- Melvin H. Brotherton, 65, Route 11, died at 2:03 p.m. Saturday at the
House of the Good Samaritan where he was admitted Sept. 7. He had been in failing
health 15 years.
"The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Frederick Brothers Funeral
Home, Evans Mills, with Rev. Gerald Loch, pastor of Emmanuel congregational Church,
Watertown, officiating. Burial will be in Sanford Corners Cemetery, Calcium.
"Calling hours will be 7 to 9 this evening and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday at the funeral home.
"He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, George, Watertown, and Douglas,
Carthage; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Ida) Bishop, Philadelphia and Mrs. Albert
(Linda) Persha, Carthage; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Belmore, Gouverneur;
a brother, Merton, Carthage, and several nieces and nephews.
"A sister, Marion Phair and a brother, Milton, died before him.
"Born in the Town of Antwerp Nov. 25, 1918 a son of Horace and Blanche
Ward Brotherton, he attended rural schools in the Little Bow section.
"He had operated farms in early years and retired from Black Clawson,
Watertown, in the late 1960s due to ill health.
"Mr. Brotherton married Ruth Delles of Lowville Nov. 23, 1943. He was
buried in Sanford Corners cemetery, Calcium, Jefferson, NY. His reference
number is 1211 in the Ira Johnson Genealogy. Melvin H. Brotherton
and Ruth A. Delles were married on 23 Nov 1943. The Ira Johnson genealogy
shows the date as 20 Nov 1941. Ruth A. Delles (daughter
of Augustus Delles and Catherine Staie) was born in 1925. She was
buried in Sanford Corners cemetery, Calcium, Jefferson, NY. No death
date listed. Melvin H. Brotherton and Ruth A. Delles had the following children:
