About Us

We are mostly amateur genealogical researchers who live in Broome, Chenango, Tioga Counties of New York;
Bradford and Susquehanna Counties of Pennsylvania.

Most of our meetings take place at the Unitrd Way building on Jensen Road in Vestal.  STGS meetings are held the first Thursday of  May, June, July, August, September, October and begin at 6:30 PM.

Each meeting features a subject that will help in a search for ancestors or in keeping track of them once they are found. The monthly meetings on various topics in genealogy or local history will keep one up-to-date on methods, materials, and sources of genealogical research.

A card file is kept on particular persons that members have researched in the past. A computer file of surnames that active members are currently researching is also maintained.

Letters requesting research help are announced at meetings; they may be answered by members that are researching the same surname.

There is an STGS member who will do local research for a fee. Request that information through the contact us tab.

We charge a membership fee of $10.00 This fee pays for the newsletter that is published about three times a year. Archives will soon be added under Newsletters tab.
